Vermaelen rescues Silvestre!

Arsenal beat a team of part-timers the other day. A fan then posted a picture of Arsenal’s new signing Vermaelen and the old Agent Silvestre vying for the ball with an opponent on a forum. The hilarious look on Silvestre’s face provided a perfect photochop opportunity and I duly obliged. Here’s the original picture:

Vermaelen and Silvestre - Arsenal

And here’s what the scene looks like after the picture underwent some lazy editing:

Vermaelen (Gladiator) saves Silvestre (Damsel in distress) :P

I could have aded speech bubbles too, but the picture says it all. ;)

I was so bored. :D

Finally – The Look!

Okay, so I have been tinkering with the look of the site over the past few days. Thankfully, I seem to have found exactly what I want the site to look like. Earlier there were lots of transparent textures, even as content backgrounds. Well, they’re gone now. And the biggest (and the best, IMO) change is the big background image at the back, which can be changed to impart an altogether look whenever needed. :D

Oh, and the backgrounds are all a part of my little photography collection, so no infringements there, for a change. :)

And another thing – this site looks the way it is meant to look, if you use Firefox/Opera. I have not bothered to make it compatible with Internet Explorer, sorry. So if you’re still stuck with IE, do yourself a favour and get Firefox! ;)

Go back to school!

Yes, you might have seen it elsewhere. But since I have nothing else planned, I thought I might as well post this just to break the silence. :D

Words’ Worth PART 2: “Blinded In Chains” – Avenged Sevenfold

What, it’s been 4 days already? 4 days since I last posted over here? Time sure is flying away!

Anyways, here’s the second instalment of the Words’ Worth series and it has arrived sooner than I expected. This time the spotlight is on ‘Blinded In Chains’ by ‘Avenged Sevenfold’. Don’t bother with the genre coz I didn’t. The song just sounds good and once you’ve read its lyrics you’ll see that it means something too. This single was also featured in EA Games’ Need For Speed: Most Wanted video game.

Now take a look at the lyrics. Be warned, a little profanity exists but purely for emphasizing the emotions.

And we’re at it again, I turn around another ****ing war, man,
I don’t know where to begin, but I’ll start with the radical leaders
Their steps we’re followin’

Running, don’t go back and fight, too many you’ll lose
(And as clowns you follow suit behind the blood between the red and white and blue but it’s too deep for you to see and
everyone eventually will take the step cause it’s in sight you take the left I’ll take the right I feel the hate you’ve built
for me and I say pay attention baby)

As they thank the Lord the blind can’t see
Like a plague fed to the brain, deadly disease A-Whoa!

But it wasn’t a sin, a sorry life judging every action
And as they’re feeding your mind with this sh*t you forget
How to speak and ask all the questions.

A Business is at hand tonight, make the people choose
(I see another side in you but there’s not much more I can do from on the outside looking in your government is listenin’ to
push you on the story of immortal father mortal son give them your mind and all your wealth the cycle will rebirth itself)
If they had it their way I’d burn in Hell and your future’s a ****in’ disaster can’t you see?
Give them all the power when your future’s in desperate trouble baby

As they thank the Lord the blind can’t see
Like a plague fed to the brain, deadly disease

I’d run away tonight with my mind still intact I’m gonna make it alright
Easier said than done with no place to hide and having no place to
Running away from condition, I see but you’re running away from
Your scared seductive system

Most would claim I live a lie (I live a lie)
When pointing out it’s easy to predict these things (predict these things) Every color has its side, (I have a side!)
They live together vote and most embrace the same dark times.(Aaah-ahh) Please help us, please save us, of course they have control we’re all the same.

Up on the cross, crucified their problem drove the nail and let Him rot
Family and friends, it won’t matter in the end I’m sure they’ll understand
Now look at the world and see how the humans bleed, as I sit up here and wonder ’bout and how you sold your mind body and soul!
Looking at the fields so green I know this sounds obscene
I see you’re livin’ for tomorrow but decisions you have made will leave you empty

As they thank the Lord the blind can’t see
Like a plague fed to the brain, deadly disease

I’d run away tonight with my mind still intact I’m gonna make it alright
Easier said than done with no place to hide and having no place to
RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNN!!!!

You’ve fallen asleep in denial
Look at the way we’re dyin’ Whoa-whoa
How it ends I’ll never know whooooa!
Just live your life blind like me!

Yeah, the song is lengthy but worth a listen. You’re free to form an opinion about the message in it and if you want to read a few others’ opinions too, go here. ;)

Words’ Worth PART 1: “Reinvention” – As I Lay Dying

This is the first entry in the series which I announced yesterday. I chose the name Words’ Worth for this since it is derived from the name of one of the greatest poets of all time – William Wordsworth. Oh, and also because here I’m trying to highlight the ‘worth’ of some ‘words’. Daft as it seems, it’s the best I could come up with after a tiring day.

I’ve chosen “Reinvention” by ‘As I Lay Dying’ for the debut post in this category. And to be honest, this song was the major factor behind starting this whole thing. The song belongs to the Metalcore genre and has growling vocals, riffs and loads of screaming. So if you can’t stand any of these 3 things, just skip the video and read the lyrics. ;)

Heard it? Good. This is what they were singing:

“You brought existence
To what I never thought could be
A world where eternity finds description
I followed a dream only to be left in reality
You reminded me of the unexplainable
And then reshaped me by your beauty
Knowing you has reinvented love in my heart
The perfection of love’s true existence
Experienced for the first time
I tried so hard to wake from this dream
But instead realized that I never fell asleep”

Doesn’t seem like a bunch of incoherent sentences screamed out at a high pitch by lunatics now, does it? :P

And that’s the whole point really. A lot of times it happens that we listen to a song which doesn’t suit our tastes and we instantly dismiss it as a load of crap. But if we pay attention to what is being sung, it just might enable us to see it in an entirely different light.

This song describes how the arrival of someone special changed their life for the better, making it much more fulfilling and turning their dreams into reality.

Beg to differ? Go on, tell me what you think. Or even better, tell me if you’ve felt the same way at any time in your life. ;)

It’s Only Words

Music->Lyrics

Music->Lyrics

A bit dull around here, eh? The steady stream of thoughts that used to flow into this blog has dried up and the only things I’ve posted recently are a few news bits and a cartoon of a cartoon. To liven things up, I’ve made another category called Music->Lyrics. In this little section I will be sharing verses that I find to be exceptional, touching or having a deeper meaning. In other words, it would be like a ‘recommended listening’ thing, if only for the lyrics.

The genres would be diverse, that’s for sure.I’m hoping it would be like a series (now if only I could think of a catchy title) that would be posted every now and then (sorry, can’t guarantee a fixed schedule).

With this update, I’m off to make a list of the first few entries. Cheers! ;)

Zhirkov swaps CSKA for Chelsea

Yuri Zhirkov - CSKA Moscow to Chelsea

Yuri Zhirkov - CSKA Moscow to Chelsea

Yuri Zhirkov – also known as the Russian Ronaldinho – has completed his move from CSKA Moscow to Chelsea today. The left-sided full-back/winger joins Chelsea fter a glowing recommendation from Guus Hiddink, the former Chelsea manager and current coach of the Russian national team.

Zhirkov would provide competition to Florent Malouda on the left flank as well as back-up to Ashley Cole at left-back. His stellar performances at Euro 2008 culminated in being nominated for the Ballon d’Or award.

Take a look at his goal against Hamburg to see what he is capable of:

So let’s hope he can show us some of these skills in a Chelsea shirt. Welcome to Stamford Bridge, Yuri! :)

Ronaldo – I’m Worth It!

Yes, the greaseball is at it again. Not content with proclaiming himself as the 3 best players in the world, the epitome of modesty has claimed that he is worth the eye-watering sum of 80 Million Pounds.

Even before reading the headlines on news sites, it was a foregone conclusion that the scribes would have latched on to the classic L’Oreal ad punchline – ‘Because I’m Worth It’. So why should I stay back? Here’s a little something I conjured up on this topic:

Cristiano Ronaldo - He's Worth It!

All that effort I put into Photoshopping was worth it, methinks. :D

Daniel Sturridge signs for Chelsea

Daniel Sturridge - Manchester City to Chelsea

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of 19-year old striker Daniel Sturridge from Manchester City. Sturridge is an England youth international and was a free agent after his contract with City expired. However, since he is less than 24 years old Manchester City will receive a compensation for his development costs, decided by an independent tribunal.

Sturridge joins Ross Turnbull as our second major signing this season. Welcome to Chelsea, Danny and wish you all the best. :)

Ross Turnbull - Boro to Chelsea

Chelsea FC have announced their first signing of the season – goalkeeper Ross Turnbull on a free transfer from Middlesbrough. The 24-year old goalkeeper will contest for the substitute goalkeeper spot with Hilario who has also signed a new 2 year deal. And maybe Turnbull could even push Cech for his starting place in a couple of years.

The addition of Turnbull means another English player in the Chelsea ranks, which would prove handy with regard to the 6+5 rule in Europe. Here’s wishing Ross all the very best and a very warm welcome to Stamford Bridge. :)

Like I said earlier, I have made a new category for wallpapers that can’t be downloaded from the Digital Art section of this site. I’m too tired right now to add descriptions for each of them, but I reckon the images are fairly self-explanatory.

A new category – Wallpapers!

New!

In my old blog I had a few posts showing off my half-baked Photoshop skills in the form of some wallpapers. You won’t find any wallpapers there now. I decided to create an entirely different section called Digital Art when I restructured the website. It has a gallery, but no option for downloading the images. After a lot of tinkering and trying to somehow put a download link in the Flash gallery, I gave up.

Now, having a separate page for wallpapers when I already have a section called Digital Art, and which would have 90% of the same content as the latter, would look pretty stupid. So I have gone the other way and decided to have a separate category in my blog where I can post downloadable wallpapers for the general public. :)

This post is like a notice issued before the actual event. The goods will arrive in a separate post, later. ;)
