Words’ Worth PART 1: “Reinvention” – As I Lay Dying
This is the first entry in the series which I announced yesterday. I chose the name Words’ Worth for this since it is derived from the name of one of the greatest poets of all time – William Wordsworth. Oh, and also because here I’m trying to highlight the ‘worth’ of some ‘words’. Daft as it seems, it’s the best I could come up with after a tiring day.
I’ve chosen “Reinvention” by ‘As I Lay Dying’ for the debut post in this category. And to be honest, this song was the major factor behind starting this whole thing. The song belongs to the Metalcore genre and has growling vocals, riffs and loads of screaming. So if you can’t stand any of these 3 things, just skip the video and read the lyrics.
Heard it? Good. This is what they were singing:
“You brought existence
To what I never thought could be
A world where eternity finds description
I followed a dream only to be left in reality
You reminded me of the unexplainable
And then reshaped me by your beauty
Knowing you has reinvented love in my heart
The perfection of love’s true existence
Experienced for the first time
I tried so hard to wake from this dream
But instead realized that I never fell asleep”
Doesn’t seem like a bunch of incoherent sentences screamed out at a high pitch by lunatics now, does it?
And that’s the whole point really. A lot of times it happens that we listen to a song which doesn’t suit our tastes and we instantly dismiss it as a load of crap. But if we pay attention to what is being sung, it just might enable us to see it in an entirely different light.
This song describes how the arrival of someone special changed their life for the better, making it much more fulfilling and turning their dreams into reality.
Beg to differ? Go on, tell me what you think. Or even better, tell me if you’ve felt the same way at any time in your life. ![]()

Chennai Life – Ep.4

Is this little mini-series turning out to be some sort of weekly soap? I hope not, because then I’ll have to down shutters and move to the mountains to regain my sanity! I hoped that I wouldn’t crib about the weather again and my prayers seem to have been answered by The Almighty. The city

The past week just flew by and before I could make sense of it all, it’s Saturday already. Learning from my past mistakes, I spent the afternoon in the confines of my office, shielded from the 3PM heat. I had never imagined that writing PL/SQL code could be so relaxing. I spent the week pondering

You all love weekends, don’t you? I used to love them too, once upon a time. Here in Chennai, I wish weekends would be wiped off the calendar for good, to be replaced by 2 more working days. “Why?”, you ask. So lemme tell you, I live in a God-forsaken place where I’d be lucky

I’m in Chennai. And it’s raining. Yes, real drops of watery goodness sent from the clouds above. Never mind that this is happening because of the cyclone ‘Laila’ which would have hit the coastal regions of south India by the time you read this. At the risk of schadenfreude, I must say that at least

Hey there! Long time, huh? I moved to Chennai a couple of weeks ago and since then my life has become more hectic, faster and busier than ever. Priorities have changed and a lot of things have had to be reorganized. That leaves little time for posting here. Still, I’ll have something to say every
The Three Things I’ve Learned Lately

There’s not a lot happening around me these days. Still, learning is a thing that never stops. Here are three things I’ve learned over the past month or so: The user really is the weakest link in anything that needs security: I got myself a laptop bag and a small lock. To be absolutely safe

Have you ever wondered how much you’ve changed over the years? Ever realized how much your tastes, likes, dislikes and preferences have matured (or in some cases, become more childish) since the time you were in your early teens? While aspects such as your choice of apparel, cuisine etc can be attributed to the maturity
The Week That Was

After finally getting myself a good Internet connection, the last thing I wanted was that thing dying on me. That, dear reader, is the reason for my absence from this place for the whole week. I just got the damn thing working today and now I no longer feel like I’m missing a limb. Okay,
How NOT to Spend a Saturday

Let’s be honest. We all make it through five working days just because we anticipate a relaxing and fun-filled Saturday at the end of those five days. I actually start the countdown on Monday – “Just 5 more days to go, so hang in there!”. And it actually works! At the end of each day,

Yes, it’s me again. After staying away from this place for so long, I’ve at last found some time (and willingness) to write something. But before that, some stuff had to change. And as always, the theme was the first one to be shown the door. ‘A Little More Lunacy’ is now back to being
